Is the Holy Land Holy?
Published in Paperback by WinePress Publishing (November, 1999)
Authors: Louis Bahjat Hamada, Walton M. Padelford, and Eugene H. Merrill
Average review score:

The prophet speaks again...
As always, a passionate work of scholarship. Dr. Hamada makes enemies as he exposes the misplaced zeal for the "Holy Land" of many Christians, Jews and Arabs. For too long we have heard the rantings of those who seek to bring a superficial peace to the Middle East by favoring one people over another. Hamada makes an excellent case for the vanity of attempting to manipulate earthly kingdoms. He brings to light not only the promise to the Jews, but the promises of God to the Arabs. For those who have "eyes to see," this book is about the love of God for all who will "kiss the Son." (Ps 2:12)

It's a Gas: A Study of Flatulence
Published in Hardcover by Eugene Silverman MD (December, 1991)

Unique, humorous, and practical
Practical advice for sufferers. Includes lots of historical references and literature excerpts. One of these, "1601" by Mark Twain (and available almost nowhere else in print) is simply one of the funniest things I've ever read.

James K. Polk: A Political Biography to the Prelude to War 1795-1845
Published in Hardcover by American Political Biography Press (April, 1995)
Authors: Eugene Irving McCormac and Katherine E. Speirs
Average review score:

The best on Polk I've ever read!
For years I've been convinced that James K. Polk was one of our country's most effective presidents and most successful. After reading the two volumes by Eugene I. McCormac, I'm more convinced than ever. I rank Polk as one of the top six (6) presidents this country has ever had. He stated what he wanted emphatically, he fought hard to get them accomplished and in the long run, they were good for the country. It's so sad that his accomplishments were overshadowed by the pending slavery question and his own lack of charisma. Yet, he was great and I rank him along with Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln & Truman. Others would disagree I'm sure, but I believe I'm right. Thanks, McCormac, for such two fine volumes on such a great statesman. Peahillfm@aol.com

A must read for reflective people
I can't count the number of copies of this book I have given away over the years. Eugene Kennedy's "The Joy of Being Human" is a straight talking book for people of faith who are open to the wisdom of psychology as well as theology. The readings are organized in sections for each day and provide encouraging and thought provoking material for the modern reader. Great for one's own prayer time and perfect as gifts for friends.

Karl Fischer Titration: Determination of Water (Chemical Laboratory Practice/Anleitungen Fur Die Chemische laboratoriumspraXis, Vol. 20)
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (December, 1984)
Author: Eugene Scholz
Average review score:

A key publication in the field of Karl Fischer Titration.
This landmark 1984 publication highlights the theoretical, practical, and historical aspects of the development of the Karl Fischer Titration (KF) from an impromptu method used by Karl Fischer for determination of moisture in sulfur dioxide at a petrochemical plant to an established analytical technique of determining moisture in a variety of matrices.

Dr. Eugen Scholz, the developer of the leading pyridine-free KF reagents sold under the brand name HYDRANAL, fully explores the chemistry, stoichiometry, and kinetics of the KF reaction.

Subsequent chapters deal with such important condsiderations in KF analysis as pH, side reactions, working medium selection, sample handling and administration, and safety.

The most useful portion of the book, however, consists of specific applications Scholz presents for a variety of common samples including organic and inorganic chemicals, foodstuffs, technical and natural products, and gases. Specific recommendations for analyzing samples as diverse as instant coffee, plastics, paints, sugars, pharmaceutical products, solvents and many others are presented and fully referenced.

This volume is a 'must-have' for scientists involved in KF methods development.

Good First Atlas
Easy to read, colorful pictures, a great book for your child's collection. It has facts about the differnt lands, shows pictures of the animals native to relative regions and tibit facts. Very basic and simple. My daughter uses this as a reference to her storytime books. She will, for example, find Paris where 'Madeline' lives. It is easy to handle and look at too.

Learn to Relax: Proven Techniques for Reducing Stress, Tension, and Anxiety--and Promoting Peak Performance
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (15 January, 2001)
Author: C. Eugene Walker
Average review score:

Highly Recommended!
Stress and anxiety are natural parts of the human experience and can actually improve performance in challenging times. But for those of us with more than our fair share of tension, C. Eugene Walker has written a helpful book. Walker draws on theories from many psychologists, psychiatrists and other researchers in analyzing the origins of our stress. More importantly, he also provides techniques for overcoming and reducing tension - including more than 40 exercises that will help you calm down. While his basic principles will sound familiar to those who know self-help and personal-development literature, Walker does a good job of combining and organizing these points. We [...] recommend this book to a general audience, but also to top managers and executives who deal with stressed-out employees or feel the pressure mounting themselves.
